Clark E. Schainost

d. July 6, 2009

Clark E. Schainost, age 72, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 at his home in rural Colony. Clark was born to Charles and Mildred (Kline) Schainost on March 12, 1937, at his childhood home a half mile from the place he and his wife of 48 years and his three sons made their home. He married Christine Hoffman on February 5, 1961, at Grace Lutheran Church in Iola, Kansas. Together they had three sons, Mike, Gary, and Todd. After graduating from Colony High School in 1955, Clark earned an associate degree from Iola Junior College. Clark served in the Army and was stationed in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1964. Clark was a farmer and cattle rancher in Anderson County. He served on the Crest school board for many years and was a member of the Colony Lions Club, the Iola Elks, the Iola American Legion and the Iola American Legion 40-8, but he always felt that his greatest achievements in life were raising his three sons and being a part of his grandchildren's lives. He always had time to take them fishing, hunting and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred Schainost; and his brother Duane. Clark is survived by his wife Christine; his son Mike and wife Jeanie of Garnett and their sons Jacob and Cole; his son Gary and wife Tracy of Colony and their children Kristin, Patience, and Tanner; and son Todd and wife Lois of Ellicott, Colorado and their son, Blake. He is also survived by his two step-grandsons, B.J. Schaumann and Jay Schaumann; and several nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Marilyn Kimsey of Boulder, Colorado; and Evelyn Calzaretta of Mesa, Arizona. Graveside services will be held at the Colony Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Hospice and sent in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, P.O. Box 408, Garnett, Kansas 66032.
