Clifford Clyde Brooks

Clifford Clyde Brooks, 91, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016, at Allen County Regional Hospital. Clifford was born May 7, 1925, in Thornburg, Kansas, the son of Clyde and Mattie (Palmer) Brooks. In 1934 the Brooks family moved to a farm in Allen County 8 miles northwest of Iola. Over the years, Clifford hayed for Ralph Jones, worked a Iola Milling Co., worked as a truck driver in California, for a trucking company in Gas and Cyrus Truck Lines, worked at Columbia Metal and retired in 1990 from the City Of Iola where he had worked since 1975. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings: James, John, Robert, Roy, Forest and Elvin Brooks, Ethel Brooks, Rosie Sardi, Mary Burton, and Josie Angrove and his companion, Erma J. (Scovill) Hopkins. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and his caregiver, Lila Baker of Iola. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, with visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery.
