Clifford H. Wells, age 87, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Guest Home Estates in Garnett. He was born June 4, 1930, in Garnett, Kansas to Edna Kueser and Lester Holman. He was later adopted by Charles L. Wells when he and Edna were married. Clifford attended school in Garnett with exception of two years at Bush City, Kansas. He did not finish high school in Garnett but later finished while in the Air Force. He also earned some college credits while in the Air Force. Clifford enlisted in the Air Force on May 26, 1948, where he remained active duty until November 30, 1968, then completed ten years in the inactive reserves. He retired after 20 years at Whiteman AFB, Missouri. During his 20 years of active service, he was stationed at many state side bases, and Tripoli, Libya; Ernest Harmond AFB in Stevensville, Newfoundland, and Vietnam. He met and married his wife, Dorothy Marie (McGill) Wells on June 10, 1951, in Belvedere, Illinois while stationed at O'Hare AFB at Park Ridge, Illinois, beginning their family consisting of two boys and two girls. After retiring from the Air Force, Clifford worked for Skaggs Drug Company in Sedalia, Missouri as a manager for 14 years, later owning and operating a liquor store in Sedalia for approximately three years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna Wells; his wife, Dorothy Wells; two sons, Charles Francis Wells and Gary Thomas Wells; and one daughter, Pamala Cecil; half-sister, Nina Baker and husband Jack; one grandson, Bryan Phillips. He is survived by one daughter, Connie Rademan of Jefferson City, Missouri; three half-brothers, David Holman; Paul Holman and wife Pam, all of Welda, Kansas; John Holman and wife Vickie of Perry, Kansas; four half-sisters, Judy Thyer of Iola, Kansas; Delores Bishop of Gas, Kansas; and Linda Graham of Heavener, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. Clifford was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and a longtime member of the V.F.W. He served as Commander of Post 2591 in Sedalia, Missouri from 1970-1971. He was awarded All State Commander in Missouri for that term. He returned to Garnett in 1996, where he resided until his death. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Scipio, burial following at Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas.
