Clyde E. Gerdsen, 70, of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Clyde was born March 30, 1938, on a farm north of LaHarpe, Kansas. He graduated from LaHarpe High School and then served in the U.S. Navy. On September 1, 1962, Clyde married Donna R. Johns and they made their home in Iola. Clyde drove a truck most of his working life but worked several years at Haldex before retiring. He liked to golf and fish. He was an avid horseshoe pitcher and was instrumental in organizing the sport here in Iola at Riverside Park. VISITATION: 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, with the Rev. Steve Traw officiating.
