Clyde Lincoln Moore, age 84, of Garnett, Kansas, died on August 17, 2010 at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. He was born on October 19, 1925 in Glenwood, Missouri, the son of Charles Herbert and Opal (Kerby) Moore. As a young man, he received his formal education at Glenwood, Missouri. Clyde went to work for Western Union Telegraph Company at the age of 16, but his working career was interrupted by W.W. II. From 1944 through 1946, he served his country honorably with the United States Army in the Philippines and Japan receiving numerous medals to include a Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with Bronze Battle Star and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1946, he resumed work with Western Union and was employed by them for over 40 years retiring as a section boss. During the years of employment, he worked in eleven different states. In 1949, while working in Colorado, Clyde and the former Ruth Lake of Garnett were united in marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Opal Moore; his wife Ruth Moore; his only brother, Kenneth Moore and two brother-in-laws, Okley Beeler and Dale Beeler. Clyde is survived by two sisters, Mary Beeler and Betty Beeler of Lancaster, Missouri; five nieces and five nephews; a wonderful extended family; and many friends from the Garnett area. He was a soft-spoken, friendly gentleman who had a wonderful smile and was always available to help his friends and family. His earthly presence will be missed by each of them. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial will be in the Garnett Cemetery, Garnett. The family will be present to greet friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
