Cora O'Rourke

Cora L. O'Rourke, 67, of Iola, Kansas, passed into eternal life Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Windsor Place in Iola. Cora was born Feb. 8, 1948 in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of August and Nellie (Rogers) Tubach. She graduated from Glasco High School and received her Bachelors and Master (MLS) degrees from Emporia State University. Cora taught 36 years - teaching at Moran, Kansas and Lincoln Elementary in Iola, Kansas. She was a former member of Gamma Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Business and Professional Women's Club of Iola and International Reading Association. Cora was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Iola, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Her passion was reading, she also enjoyed cooking, swimming and traveling. On August 11, 1973, Cora married Joe O'Rourke at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, Kansas. She is survived by her husband, a brother Raymond Tubach, Larned, KS, a sister Freda Sager and husband Howard, Topeka, KS, a sister-in-law Mary Jo Tubach Garrett, Emporia, KS and many nieces and nephews. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Clyde Tubach, Lemoine Tubach and a sister Elaine Dunlap. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church in Iola. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hope Unlimited. Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
