Craig L. Holcomb, age 63, of Chanute, Kansas, formerly from Yates Center, Kansas, passed away on January 10, 2021, at Heritage Health Care, Chanute, Kansas, after a battle with Covid. In January, 2007, Craig was diagnosed with a brain tumor that required brain surgery. The brain tumor returned and he had a second brain surgery in 2010. Because of the brain tumor and multiple brain surgeries, Craig was not to care for himself and he spent the remainder of his life in area nursing homes and care facilities.
Craig was born on January 5, 1958, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Carl E. Holcomb and Beverly (Smith) Holcomb. He attended schools in El Dorado, Kansas, and in Winfield, Kansas, graduating from Winfield High School in 1976.
Craig and Cindy Swartz were married on March 5, 1977. They later divorced. Three beautiful children were born to this union.
Craig worked various jobs, including law enforcement and later Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas.
Craig was preceded in death by his father, Carl Holcomb; and his daughter, Natasha Herrell.
Craig is survived by his mother, Beverly Holcomb, Yates Center, Kansas; sons, Nathan Holcomb, Oxford, Kansas, Nick Holcomb and wife, Heather, Wichita, Kansas; son-in-law, Seth Herrell; Aunt Nancy (Shirman) Yancy; Aunt Carol (Dick) Thompson; grandchildren, Blaak Holcomb, Koy Holcomb, Kennedy Holcomb, Maison Holcomb, Madelyn Herrel, and Kopper Herrell.
Cremation has taken place and no service is planned at this time. A private family inurnment will be in the Toronto Cemetery, Toronto, Kansas.
Memorials in Craig’s honor are suggested to Friends For Life, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
