Dale Lybarger, age 74, of Garnett, Kansas died Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital , Kansas City, Missouri. He was born July 14, 1934 at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Charles Wilson and Ruth L. (Heck) Lybarger. Dale graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1952. Dale married Betty Turner on June 25, 1955 at Garnett, Kansas; this union was blessed with three children. Dale was an agent for Mobil Oil from 1955 until 1980. In 1980 he founded Lybarger Oil. He served his industry as a member of the Kansas Oil Marketers Association and its Board of Directors. He retired from Lybarger Oil in December 1996. In his retirement, Dale devoted much time in the service of others. His activities included volunteering for disaster relief throughout the country, mentoring through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and a variety of community service projects. Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on several church boards, choir, and as a District Lay Leader. Dale was very active in Lions Club, Anderson County Hospital Board of Trustees and the Anderson County Hospital Foundation. He served on the Garnett city commission, the Anderson County Historical Society and the Economic Development Committee. Dale was a member of the Garnett Unit of the Kansas National Guard for 13 years. Any free time found Dale biking, running, and being with his beloved family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dale is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; a daughter, Janice K. Epp and husband, Charles, and their daughter Amy of Mission, Kansas; son, Alan D. Lybarger and wife, Paula of Overland Park, Kansas, and their children Jennifer, Jason and Jackie, son, David R. Lybarger and wife, Myra, and their children Katie and Nicholas of Garnett, Kansas; two brothers, Ronald Lybarger of Rich Hill, Missouri, Larry Lybarger of Paola, Kansas; and one sister, Betty Rose of Topeka, Kansas. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Garnett, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Anderson County Hospital Foundation.
