Dale C. Marney, 79, of Humboldt, Kansas, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. Dale was born November 19, 1932, at Rocky Comfort, Missouri, the son of Champ Clark and Kate Frances (McNeill) Marney. He grew up in Rocky Comfort where he graduated from high school in 1950. On March 16, 1952, Dale married Ava Jean Clifton in Rocky Comfort. They made their home in Kansas City. Dale served 18 months in Alaska with the United States Army before returning to Kansas City where he worked as a machine operator for International Paper Company and later as an independent insurance agent. In 1974, the Marney's moved to Humboldt and opened Marney's Western Auto which they operated for 15 years. Dale retired from Gates Rubber Company and has continued to manage Humboldt Housing Authority. He was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church and the men's club at the church. His greatest pleasure was his family. SURVIVORS: His wife of 60 years: Ava Marney of the home 4 Children: Debra Goddard & husband, Stephen of Kansas City, MO, Karen Richardson & husband, Mark of Kansas City, KS, Alan Marney & wife, Melissa of Spring Hill, KS, and Beth Marney of Kansas City, MO 1 Brother: John Marney & wife, Jeanie of Exeter, MO 1 Sister: Shirlene DeSpain of Wheaton, MO 7 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Haufler and a brother J.R. Marney. Cremation has taken place.
