Dale S. Miller, age 94, of Blue Mound, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Parsons, Kansas. Dale was born November 26, 1915 at Saffordville, Kansas, the son of Pete Searl and Floretta Alvena "Winnie" (Nurnburg) Miller. Dale grew up in western Lyon County, Kansas attending country schools before graduating from high school at Miller, Kansas. Following school Dale farmed and owned a dairy near Emporia. He married Mary Annabelle Troutman on September 30, 1937 at Topeka, Kansas. This marriage was blessed with one son, Richard. In 1959 Dale moved to the Blue Mound area where he farmed and raised cattle as the owner of Lost Creek Angus. Dale and his companion Kathy McMurray had one daughter, Ashley. Dale enjoyed his garden, fishing, dinner at the cabin, and his antique tractors, however, his work was his greatest passion. Dale was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Leslie and Gene Miller; four sisters, Melissa Dickson, Sadie Miller, Elda Crim, and Virginia Jordan; and his wife, Annabelle Miller. He is survived by his son, Richard D. Miller and wife, Peggy, of Stanley, Kansas; his daughter, Ashley Clark and husband, Jesse, of Parsons, Kansas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dodds Miller of Topeka, Kansas; and three sisters, Alivena Patterson of Hayesville, Kansas; Ilean Smith of Wichita, Kansas; and Ruth McMurtray of Farmsville, Virginia. Mr. Miller will lie in state after 11:00 AM, Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 344 N. Cedar, Moran, Kansas 66755. The family will be present from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday evening to greet friends. Mr. Miller will be cremated following the visitation and private family services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home.
