Dan P. Holm

d. December 7, 2009

Dan P. Holm, age 78, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Garnett, Kansas, departed from this life on Monday, December 7, 2009, at his home in Topeka. He was born on March 1, 1931, in Irving, Kansas, the youngest of eight children born to Paul and Dora Holm. He served in the Air Force for four years. In January of 1955, he was united in marriage to Corky Suiter of Marysville, Kansas. From this union there are two surviving sons, Dan Holm, Jr. and his wife Wanda, and Randy L. Holm and his wife Rhonda, all of Topeka. Corky preceded him in death. He later married Betty Baum in October of 1992. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Desarae Grimmett and husband Chad, Tyler, Danielle and Ryan Holm, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dan made his home in Garnett, Kansas, for 39 years prior to moving to Topeka in 2008 to be closer to his sons due to failing health. He worked 40 years as a butcher for several different food chains, spending the last 25 years of his career as the manager of the meat department at Pence IGA in Garnett. He retired in 1993. Dan treasured his time spent with his family, especially time spent riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, which he enjoyed until his health forced him to give it up at the age of 75. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at Marysville, Kansas. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to Heart of America Hospice at 3715 SW 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66614.
