Danny Wayne McCall, age 80, of Moran, Kansas, passed away July 8, 2022, at Medicalodge of Fort Scott, Kansas. Dan was born November 11, 1941, in Carneiro, Kansas, to Wayne McCall and Thelma (Brady) McCall.
Dan graduated in 1959 from Moran High School, Moran, Kansas. He served his country in the United States Navy. Dan and Donna Waterman were married May 2, 1964, in Moran, Kansas.
Dan and Donna made their home in Wichita, Kansas, where they had children, Sherry and Patrick. They later moved to Moran, Kansas, where they purchased the Cherry Blossom Café and operated it for 14 years. Dan farmed with his dad and brother, Randy McCall, and later went to work at Haldex in Iola, Kansas, until his retirement.
Dan enjoyed meeting up with friends at the local coffee shop every morning. He liked going to Humboldt Speedway on Friday nights. He decided to give racing a try and bought a modified race car. "Dangerous Dan" decided it was much easier and cheaper to be a spectator and sold the race car.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; sister, Burma Gonzalez; brother, Randy McCall; and nephew, Lance Townsley.
Dan is survived by children, Sherry (Jeff) Stewart, Moran, Kansas, Patrick (Amy) McCall, Prosper, Texas; grandchildren, Blake (Bailey) Stewart, Alyssa (Micheal) Beggs, Tabitha (Kevin) Saupe, Cameron Russell, Kirby McCall; great-grandchildren, Aubree Stewart, Caelum Stewart, Lily Saupe, Brixlee Beggs, baby Beggs due in September; sister-in-law, Audrey McCall, Moran, Kansas; brother-in-law, Jace (Margie) Waterman, Kansas City, Kansas; numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service to honor Dan's life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Moran United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas.
