Darrell Dwayne Peters

Darrell Dwayne Peters, age 77, passed away with family at his side, on March 22, 2023 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

Darrell was born December 4, 1945 in Liberal, Missouri the son of Eldon Peters and Frances (Truskett) Donald.

He grew up in Missouri and Kansas. Darrell graduated from Moran High School in 1964. He enlisted in the Navy on December 16, 1962. He was released from active duty on 12-16-1968.

Darrell worked for Nelson Quarries, Humboldt Brick and Tile, and Monarch Cement Company. He retired from Monarch Cement Company on October 31, 2013 after 41 years of service. After retirement he worked part-time at Iola Pharmacy for seven years along with mowing yards and picking up cardboard.

On March 10, 1968 Darrell was united in marriage to Shirley "Jody" Schooley. This union was blessed with four children. Darrell was a very loving, devoted father and husband.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; step- father Claude Donald and grandson Dylan Peters.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 55 years of the home; children Daren (Sheila) Peters, Dana Peters of Humboldt, Kansas, Sabrina (Brendan Williams) Peters of Erie, Kansas and David (Lindsey) Peters of Andover, Kansas; sister Eleanor Ross of Iola, Kansas, Brenda Johnson of Chanute, Kansas; brother Randy (Jutta) Peters of Schotten, Germany; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday March 31, 2023 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 US HWY 54, Iola, Kansas, 66749, funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday April 1, 2023 at the Feuerborn Funeral Service Chapel, commital and military honors will follow at Mt.Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project and can be left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US HWY 54, Iola, Kansas 66749.
