Dave Brock

Dave Brock, age 55, of Richmond, Kansas passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas. David Alan Brock was born March 3, 1960 at Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Eugene D. and Dorothy M. (Duke) Brock. Dave grew up in Richmond and attended school at Central Heights, graduating in 1978. Following school Dave worked for various construction companies. This work took him all over the United States. Since 2009 he had worked as a floor layer and was a member of the carpenters union, until his health no longer allowed him to work. Dave married Kerrie Huber in 1982, one daughter, Kayla Jo, was born to this union. They later divorced. Dave married Joy (Buckley) Wight on September 2, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home near Richmond. Dave enjoyed mushroom hunting, riding his motorcycle and ATV, and almost any outdoor activity. He was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. Dave loved to spend time with his friends and they will miss his ornery nature. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene "Moose" in 1998; and his brother, Rick, in 1973. Dave is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; daughter, Kayla Brock of Lenexa, Kansas; mother, Dorothy Brock of Ottawa, Kansas; grandson, Jax Jo of Lenexa, Kansas; step children, Josh Wight and wife, Nicole, Jill Hermreck and husband, Chris, Grace Wight; five step-grandchildren, Whitney, Payton, Rylan, Ava, and Ivy, all of Garnett. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Dave Brock memorial fund.
