David Brian Korthals, age 57, of Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. David was born on September 14, 1951, at Sanborn, Iowa, the son of Fred Korthals and Louise (Prins) Korthals DeVries. He graduated from Sanborn High School, and attended the University of South Dakota and Northwest Iowa Community College. He was united in marriage to Donna Reiter on May 1, 1993, in Yates Center, Kansas. David worked as a journeyman millright foreman, for Nelson Engineering. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and loved to ride his Harley. He also loved spending time with his family while camping and fishing. He took them on vacation to many places. David was a devoted husband, good father and friend. He will be missed by his family, friends and co-workers. He is survived by his wife, Donna Korthals of the home; daughters Danielle Korthals, Deanna Korthals, and Carla Vosseller; his mother, Louise DeVries of Sanborn, Iowa; one brother Larry Korthals of Mesa, Arizona; three grandchildren, George Phillips, Alisa Vosseller, and Harry Vosseller. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the First Church of the Nazarene at Baxter Springs, Kansas, with graveside services at the Colony Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Danielle and Deanna Korthals Education fund and may be left in the care of the funeral home.
