David Roy Leake, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2019, from his brother’s house in Iola, Kansas. He was born on October 16, 1944, in Iola, Kansas to Roy and Elsie (Morris) Leake. Dave grew up in Iola, Kansas. He graduated in 1962 from Iola High School. After high school Dave attended one year at Iola Junior College in Iola, Kansas. He enlisted in the U.S Air Force in 1963 and served for 23 years. Dave was honorably discharged in 1986, achieving the rank of MSgt. He then worked with Ford Aerospace as a Radar Technician in Nevada. Dave had worked at the same site with different defense contractors such as Loral Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, and finally retiring with Raytheon after 24 years. Dave married Gayla Pollack in 1976 in Yuma, Arizona. They were happily married for 35 years. Dave’s favorite past time was fishing. While on leave from the service he would spend time with his grandchildren fishing for Corvina at the Salton Sea in California. Dave was a quiet and humble man that was easy going and loved his wife and family. David was preceded in death by his wife Gayla; his parents; brother, Roy Leake; step-daughter, Jenny Lynn Dykstra. David is survived by his brothers, Jack Leake, Steve Leake, Scott Leake; his sisters, Jane Gilbert, Mary Carter, Barbara Moorehouse, Patricia Kress; his son-in-law, Dale Dykstra; his grandchildren, Keith, Danny, and Jamie Dykstra; his great-grandchildren; Kathleen, Haley, Tyler Jordon, Blake, Jenna, and Shelby Dykstra.
