David Vernon Rodke, age 60, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Via Christi Saint Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. David was born September 29, 1958, in Junction City, Kansas, to Scott P. Rodke and Darlene Woodward Reasoner. David graduated from Belton High School, Belton, Texas, and received a business degree from Temple Junior College in Temple, Texas. David worked as meat cutter and operated a butcher shop in Yates Center, Kansas, and later went to Bronson, Kansas, where he worked in the Bolling family meat business. He was a maintenance supervisor for an apartment complex in Wichita, Kansas, at the time of his passing. David was an avid reader. He excelled in sports in his younger years. His passions were working and learning, and throughout his entire life he was constantly seeking new knowledge in many areas. David achieved several goals in his lifetime for which he was very proud, a college degree and a technical certificate in HVAC. He enjoyed fishing, working crossword puzzles, and was known by his family as a workaholic. David was very proud of his sons and their families. David was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-father, Bill Reasoner. David is survived by one daughter, Rachel Rodke; two sons, Nathan Rodke, Seattle, Washington, Patrick Rodke and wife, Atalissa Roberts, Ponca City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Alexander Rodke and Sterling Rodke, Seattle, Washington, Damon Rodke and Ava Rodke, Ponca City, Oklahoma; three sisters, LeeAnn Everson, Lori Rodke, Temple, Texas, Sharon Bolling and husband, Mitch, Bronson, Kansas; two brothers, Joseph Rodke and wife, Marie, Atlanta, Georgia, Thanh Rodke and wife, Heather, Temple, Texas; step-mother, Hanh Rodke, Temple, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service honoring David's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2018, at the Paint Creek Church of The Brethren, 942 – 100th Street, Redfield, Kansas. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the memorial service in the fellowship hall at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Marmaton Cemetery, 1490-1492 Kansas Road, Fort Scott, Kansas.
