David L. Sherrill

David Lynn Sherrill, age 91, of Iola, Kansas, passed away August 7, 2023, at his residence. David was born July 13, 1932, in Iola, Kansas, to Ralph V. Sherrill and Bertha V. (Conover) Sherrill.

David graduated in 1950 from Iola High School. He served his country in the Kansas National Guard. David worked for Pet Milk Company, M & M Packing Company, and as a janitor for Allen Community College. He was also a hog and cattle buyer.

David and Jean L. Lilly were married in 1955. They later divorced. He and Karen Sue Swinford were married June 15, 1974, in Iola, Kansas.

David liked being out on his farm, working his cattle, and fixing fence. David especially liked spending time at area sale barns. He enjoyed his grandchildren. David loved spending time with his family, cookouts, holidays, and going out with his very best friend, Suzie Wilks.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen; brother, Robert Sherrill; and sons-in-law, John Wymore, George LaGrande.

David is survived by daughters, Melinda Wymore, Gas, Kansas, Debra LaGrande, Iola, Kansas, Gloria Sherrill, Iola, Kansas, Susan Burns, Lewisville, Texas; grandson, David (Paige) Kinzle, Humboldt, Kansas; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, RDee (Beth) Sherrill, Estes Park, Colorado; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023, in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.
