Deborah Gail Lampe, age 66, of Colony, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019, at her home.
Deb was born at Saint John, Kansas on April 7, 1953 to Clifford and Elsie (Wahn) Potter Johnson. She grew up in Iola, graduating from Iola High School with the class of 1971. On November 4, 1972 Deb was united in marriage to Jerry Lampe in the St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Piqua, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children, Melissa and Jared. Deb worked at the Iola Wal-Mart for 20 years, retiring in 2009. She loved her dogs. Deb was very talented and she loved to share her creations. She made countless painted rocks, hand made cards, and numerous crocheted items for her family. Deb’s legacy will live on through her cards and painted rocks, she loved to inspire others in subtle ways. She was proud of her collection of friends. Deb was very protective of her grandbabies and her beloved dogs, fortunately she was never forced to choose one over the other. Her family was her greatest source of joy and pride. She will be missed for her sense of humor and her generous heart. Throughout her life, Deb, often put others needs ahead of her own and continued to do so even as she faced her own health struggles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Potter; her mother, Elsie Johnson; her “bonus” dad, Richard Johnson; two brothers-in law, John Drake and Randy Nelson.
Deb is survived by her husband, Jerry, of the home; daughter Melissa Francis and husband, Danial Jr. of Colony, Kansas; three sons, Jared Lampe and wife, Nichole of Carlyle, Kansas, and her two “bonus” sons, Matt Weller of Carlyle, Kansas, Randy Lampe and Theresia Turner of Colony, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Warren Johnson and wife, Pam of Laconia, New Hampshire; six sisters Patty Drake of Homewood, Kansas, Virginia Nelson of Richmond, Kansas, Charmanne Sayles and husband, Tom of Gas, Kansas, Nancy O’Dell and husband, Brian of Olathe, Kansas, Michelle Sabata and husband, Bill of Aurora, Nebraska, Cheryl Bicknase and husband, Wally of Aurora, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the First Christian Church, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Iola. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, in The Venue, Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas.
