Denis H. Rockers, age 82, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Guest Home Estates IV of Iola, Kansas. He was born on January 3, 1927 at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Anthony and Veronica (Feuerborn) Rockers. He attended Greeley High School. During his life he maintained the family farm while working for Cities Service Gas Company as an Oiler-Repairman for 35 years. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Greeley and served as a District Deputy during his membership. Denis served various capacities at St. John the Baptist Church including being one of the first three lay Ministers of the parish, parish council, and school board. He loved fishing and upland bird hunting, and getting together with family and friends. Denis married Mary Agnes Volz on May 24, 1951 at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. This union was blessed with four sons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Veronica Rockers; four brothers, James J. Rockers; Irvin Rockers; Anthony Rockers Jr.; and Donald Rockers; two sisters, Mary Eva Kratzberg and Benita Sobba. Denis is survived by his wife Mary Rockers, longtime resident of rural Greeley, Kansas; four sons, Daniel J. Rockers and wife Mary of Garnett, Kansas; Brent Rockers and wife Lynne of Clive, Iowa; Denis K. Rockers and Miriam Hampton of Overland Park, Kansas; and Chris Rockers and wife Nichole of Wichita, KS; one sister, Joan Mersman and husband Norbert of Mesa, Arizona; one brother, Delmar J. Rockers of Garnett, Kansas; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Rockers of Denver, Colorado and Trudy Rockers of Olathe, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Dustin Rockers; Melanie Hastert; Erin Rios; Seth Rockers; Bryce Rockers; Alicia Rockers; Graham Rockers; and Noah Rockers; and two great grandchildren, Spencer Rockers and Grady Hastert.
