Denis A. Wolken

Denis A. Wolken, age 86, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett, Kansas. He was born on April 20, 1923, at Scipio, Kansas, the son of Charles and Josephine (List) Wolken. He grew up in the area, attending East Scipio School. Denis served in the U.S. Navy. Denis worked in aircraft assembly for Cessna for 33 years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus; and a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wichita. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mary Scheckel; Elizabeth Rocker; Hilda Wolken; and infant Martha Wolken; nine brothers, Gregory, Edward, Leonard, Arnold, Hubert, Nick, Martin, Luke, and Gilbert. Denis is survived by one brother, Herman Wolken of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. The family will greet friends following a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
