Dennis Burgess

Dennis Jerel Burgess, 60, of Iola,Kansas, died Saturday, October 3, 2009, at his home. Dennis was born November 9, 1948, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Eugene Carl and Clara Dee (Wilson) Burgess. He grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1966. He served with the United States Army in Vietnam. Over the years, he lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Topeka and Iola. Dennis enjoyed restoring antique furniture, cooking and spending time on his computer. SURVIVORS: 3 Sisters: Nancy Joan Willis of Iola, Kansas; Sue Froelich of Oswego, Kansas; and Malala Koester & husband, Don of Yates Center, Kansas A number of nieces and nephews VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Cremation will follow. INURNMENT: Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas, at a later date.
