Dennis E. "Denny" McBride, age 80, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Windsor Place, Iola, Kansas. He was born in Yates Center, Kansas, on June 13, 1937, to William "Hap" McBride and Lucille Moore McBride. He graduated from the Yates Center High School. He and Nancy Shaffer were married in 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. Denny and Nancy spent 35 years in the Clovis, New Mexico, area. Denny called himself a horse trader and cattle buyer, and he spent his life ranching and roping. He was especially fond of team-roping. Denny is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; his two daughters, Kelly Mayfield and husband Tad of Platt City, Missouri, and Katie LeBlanc and husband Rick of Longmont, Colorado; his grandchildren, Karly Breslow and husband Ben, Halley Mayfield, Evan Jon LeBlanc, Avery LeBlanc, and Jacob King, who was like a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents. According to his wishes, Mr. McBride was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are to Friends For Life (a cancer support group in Yates Center) or The Town Hall (a non-profit group in Yates Center that supports various community projects) and may be left at the funeral home.
