Dennis C. Rice, age 66, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2020 in his home.
Dennis was born October 26, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Arlean Rice Sr. and Eunna Faye (Jones) McMillian. He graduated from Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma and later went on to further his education at Allen Community College in Iola, Kansas. Dennis met Nancy Pulley in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1994 where they first started their relationship. They married on May 4, 2012 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Dennis loved to cook and watch sports, mainly football. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners. He was known for his immense love for children and spoiling them rotten. He also had a huge heart for his lap dog, Haili. Dennis had quite the green thumb, filling their whole house with plants that would grow so large that they would often times reach the ceiling. Family gatherings and holidays were some of Dennis’ favorite times. You could find him entertaining and cooking up meals for everyone. He even put together the family reunions for their family. His sense of humor always had people laughing and enjoying the good times in life.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tina Rice; and brother, Keith Rice.
Dennis is survived by his wife of the home, Nancy Rice; two sisters, Paula Williams of Altus, Oklahoma, Kathleen Colen of Jacksonville, Florida; three brothers, Samuel Rice and wife, Mae of Chanute, Kansas, Mark Rice and wife, Jarneatha of Parker, Colorado, Arlean Rice Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Sheree Harrison and husband, John of Wichita, Kansas; three grandsons, Xavier Rice and Patrick Rice of Silver Springs, Maryland, Ian Harrison of Wichita, Kansas; two granddaughters, Adina Harrison of Wichita, Kansas and Deanna Rice of Silver Springs, Maryland; two great-grandsons, Jorden Rice of Silver Springs, Maryland and Adonis Harrison of Wichita, Kansas and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held to celebrate Dennis’ life at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 in The Chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, Kansas. Burial with Military Honors will take place following the service at Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas. Family will greet friends in The Venue at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 25, 2020.
Memorial contributions in honor of Dennis are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
