Dixie Lee Scobee, age 70, of Welda, Kansas, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. She was born February 12, 1947, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Claude and Wilma (Yarnell) Thompson. Dixie graduated from Humboldt High School with the Class of 1965. Dixie married Richard Scobee on August 4, 1973, at Welda, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children. A good part of her life was spent living in Sterling, Kansas. They moved several places with Richard's career before making Welda their final home. She loved bowling, gardening, especially her flowers, and having coffee with her friends. She enjoyed watching KU Basketball and KC Royals. Dixie loved animals and could be found outside a majority of the time. Early in her marriage to Richard, they enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and camping. Dixie took pride in her grandchildren, made sure to follow up on their day-to-day activities. She organized the family dinners at Welda Community Building for many holidays, making sure no one left hungry. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Stephanie Michelle Scobee; two sisters, Sharon Faye Thompson and Margaret Hazel Thompson. Dixie is survived by her husband, Richard Scobee of the home; four children, Jim Scobee and wife Candra and children, Wendell and Wrikin of Lyons, Kansas; Robin Bliss and husband Dan and children, Kenton and Kassidy of Bentley, Kansas; R'Donna Riri and children, Oceana, Kieara, Camron, Zakayo, Virginia, Jasira, and Jayden of Ottawa, Kansas; and Jill Ochweri and husband Hezron and children Theresa, Abigael, and Sophia of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Joe Thompson and wife Carol of Elsmore, Kansas; Gary Thompson of Humboldt, Kansas; one sister, Millicent Cress and husband Larry of Belton, Texas; several extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, burial to follow in the Welda Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Welda Community Building.
