Don Ensminger, age 85, of rural Moran, Kansas, died Monday, November 14, 2011, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Don was born October 17, 1926, on the family homeplace northwest of Moran, the son of Charles and Margaret (Larkey) Ensminger. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Moran High School. Don served in the Kansas Army National Guard. He served during World War II and was also serving during the 1951 flood. On December 27, 1959, Don married Pat Patterson at the Moran Presbyterian Church. They made their home in Moran until 1970 when they moved to their home in the country. Don farmed and made Ensminger Oil. Farming was his life, but oil was his passion. He had been a member of the Moran Presbyterian Church until it closed. His other memberships include the Masonic Lodge, Mirza Shrine and the Little Wheels motorcycle unit. SURVIVORS: His wife of almost 52 years: Pat Ensminger of the home 1 Son: Alan Ensminger & wife, Lori of rural Moran, Kansas 1 Daughter: Dr. Jo Lynn Nemeth of Overland Park, Kansas 4 Grandchildren: Brandon Nemeth, Jennifer, Cameron and Kaitlin Ensminger 1 Brother: Jack Ensminger of rural Moran, Kansas His dog, Pepper, and his cat, Herkimer Skezitz Snicklefritz aka "Kat". He was preceded in death by his parents. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at the First Christian Church in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the First Christian Church in Iola.
