Donald Byron Newton Sr., age 94, died February 11, 2010. He was born on November 21, 1915, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of George Russell Newton and Aurelia Charlotte (Krejci) Newton. He was married to Margret Heloise Baker, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, on December 20, 1941 in Mason City, Iowa. They made their home in the Minneapolis area and Southern California, where he was employed by North Western Aeronautical and Lockheed. In 1951, they moved to Atascadero, California, where they operated Newton's Nut Bowl and Nut Bowl Candies through the late 1950's. During this time, he was a member of the Atascadero Volunteer Fire Department. From the late 1950's to 1985, he was employed by various cross country trucking firms, hauling everything from produce, household goods, and components for the Space Program. The last part of his trucking career was with the Motion Picture Industry out of Southern California. In 1985, they made their home in Paso Robles, California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Margret Heloise Newton in May 2009. They had been members of the Paso Robles Christian Church and the Atascadero Christian Church. He is survived by his two sons, Don Newton and wife Susan of San Miguel, California; Tom Newton and wife Karen of Eureka, California; four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, it is requested by the family that a donation be made to the Trinity Lutheran school, 940 Creston Road, Paso Robles, CA 93446.
