Donald Leon Hammer

Donald Leon Hammer, 75, of Iola passed away May 31 at his home from natural causes. He was born May 15, 1942 in Iola to Willard and Agnes (Butler) Hammer. He grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School. He later worked for a time in Kansas City as a truck driver, and returned to Iola to run the family farm. He lived out his days farming and taking care of his beloved dogs. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Guyett of Plattsburg, MO; grandsons Ryan and Evan Guyett, also of Plattsburg; brothers Alvin Hammer of California, and Lavon Hammer of Colony, KS; several nieces and nephews; and ex-spouse Geraldine Hammer of Iola. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Rollin Hammer. His service will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola.
