Donald L. Welch, 72, of rural Moran, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at his home. Don was born July 23, 1938, at St. John's Hospital in Iola, Kansas, the son of Lloyd L. "Tock" and Ruth V. (Adams) Welch. He grew up on the family farm south of Moran, and graduated from Moran Rural High School in 1956. Don graduated from Allen County Junior College and received his bachelor's degree in industrial education with a minor in math from Pittsburg State University. He taught math for two years at Royster Junior High School in Chanute, Kansas, before farming full time and raising livestock. On July 26, 1959, Don married Judith A. Ensminger at the Moran United Methodist Church. They have made their home on the farm at Moran most of their married lives. Don was a member of the Moran United Methodist Church and Marmaton Lodge #245 at Moran. He enjoyed his cattle, horses, dogs - and possibly one cat! SURVIVORS: His wife of 51 years: Judy Welch of the home 3 Children: Karol Pock & her husband Rick of Emporia, KS, Kristi Hartman & her husband Gene of Moran, KS, and Kelly Welch & his wife Tara of Baldwin, KS 10 Grandchildren: Nick Henry, Ryan Henry, Amanda Crowell & husband Dusty, Clint Pock, Jaci Littrell & husband Brant, Julie Hartman & fiance Kody Heskett, Jill Hartman, and Kate, Dan, and Selene Welch 3 Great Grandchildren: Taylor, Caleigh, and Rylan Crowell 1 Brother: Bob Welch and his wife Cheryl of Moran, KS Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at the Moran United Methodist Church. Pastor David Shrum will officiate.
