Doris Arlene Garver was born January 5, 1925 at Lone Elm, Kansas. She was the third of four children born to Ray and Nora Grace (Hamilton) Garver. She grew up in the Lone Elm community where she attended school. On March 5, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to Joe Church. Their union was blessed with four children, Patty Jo, Linda, Susan, and Jody. Doris and Joe made their home in the Lone Elm area. Doris was a working farm wife, working as a CNA at the Anderson County Hospital, Moran Manor and also working as a home healthcare aide. Doris loved collecting many types of antiques, some of her favorites were turquoise jewelry, fruit jars, copper kettles, wood stoves and irons. Just like Doris' jet black hair she had a colorful personality to match. You didn't need to wait long to learn Doris' opinion, she said what she meant and meant what she said.
