Doris Wolf Mitchell Robertson, age 90, of Eudora, Kansas, formerly of Iola, completed her life journey on this earth at Medicalodge in Eudora, Kansas and went home to be with Jesus on May 24, 2016. Doris was born on August 8, 1925, to David and Rissie Wolf, in rural Gate, Oklahoma. She was the sixth of ten children. One sister, Lydia, survives and resides in the Tulsa area with her daughters. As a child, Doris' favorite activities were riding the range working with her Dad, riding horses, playing outdoors on the ranch, singing and making music. The love of music lasted her entire life. She attended the Friends Church in Gate. Attending school in Gate, she participated in basketball and orchestra. Doris graduated high school in 1944. Doris married Philip H. Mitchell on February 24, 1945, and moved to rural Allen County in Kansas. There they made their home, raised their children, and joined the Mildred Methodist Church. In 1972, they left the farm and moved to Iola, Kansas. Philip died in 1974. Doris and Phil had 3 children. The eldest son, Donald David Mitchell, preceded Doris in death in 2013. A daughter, Delores Stiffler (Royce) lives in Eudora, Kansas. The youngest son, Philip H. Mitchell, Jr. (Tammy) resides in Olathe, Kansas. Grandchildren are: Donald's children, David Mitchell (Jane) of Augusta, Kansas, James Mitchell (Tammy) of Solomon, Kansas; Delores' children, Michelle Miller of Lenexa, Kansas, Travis Stiffler, deceased in 2006; Phil's children, Crystal Sarver (Daaron) of St. Charles, Missouri, and Shana Holliday (Albert) of San Antonio, Texas. Doris leaves behind 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. One great grandson, Landon James Cole Mitchell, preceded her in death in 2010. On July 1, 1985, Doris was married to Thomas V. Robertson. He preceded her in death in 2005. From this union, Doris has one stepdaughter, Pat Nickel who resides in Owasso, Oklahoma and two step grandsons. Mike Nickel of Oklahoma City and Tom Nickel of Owasso, Oklahoma and five great grandchildren. Doris worked as a CNA at Allen County Hospital for 10 years, then 10 years at Gates Rubber Company before retiring. During these years, she enjoyed bowling and traveling to the out of state tournaments, socializing, seeing the sights, and spending time with her friends and family. She attended the Christian Church in Iola. Due to her declining health, Doris went to live with her daughter in Eudora in 2011. While there she enjoyed attending family activities, helping in the garden, canning, volunteering at the nursing home, and visits from her son who serenaded, lullabied, and sang with her at least one night a week. She attended Eudora Baptist Church. Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, May 27, 2016, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Moran, Kansas, burial following in the Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas.
