Doris Ann Ulses, age 79, of Garnett, Kansas, died December 27, 2008 at her home. Doris was born on August 29, 1929, at Council Grove, Kansas, the youngest of four children, the daughter of George and Mary May (Craycraft) Wells. The family moved to Garnett when she was three months old. She has lived here ever since. Doris was united in marriage to Carl Ulses on February 14, 1969 at Garnett, Kansas. Due to former marriages, they had a blended family of seven children. While her kids were little she lived on a farm. She kept herself busy with tending to huge weedless gardens and then proudly filling the cellar and freezer up with all the fruits and vegetables that she canned. When her work was done, she loved to go fishing. Doris loved to sew and do needlework, playing cards of any kind was something she always enjoyed. In recent years, she enjoyed playing on the computer. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Wells; two brothers, Jim Wells and Clifford Wells; She is survived by her husband, Carl Ulses, of the home; by her seven children; Denny Davis Ulses of Wichita, Kansas; Doug Davis of Georgia; Bob Ulses of Garnett, Kansas; Wayne Stanley of Garnett, Kansas; Marcie Gerdin of Portsmouth, Virginia; Rod Ulses of Gardner, Kansas; and Brian Ulses of Kansas; a friend who is like a daughter, Mitch Sherbon of Garnett, Kansas; one sister, Georgetta Jones of Ordway, Colorado; and lots of grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas, 15329 W. 95th , Lenexa, Kansas 66219; or left in care of the funeral home.
