Dorothy M. Schuster, age 95 of Garnett passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her home in Garnett. Dorothy was born May 25, 1920. She was the first of two daughters born to Fred and Mary (Light) Brown. Her father worked for the railroad; thusly the family made their home in several Kansas towns while Dorothy was young. She married Frank Schuster on April 30, 1951 at Bentonville, Arkansas. They made their home in Garnett, where Dorothy lived out the rest of her life. She was a hairdresser in Garnett for 30 years. Frank and Dorothy also owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Garnett for a number of years. She was a member of the First Christian Church and she enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank on February 13, 2002; her sister, Marguerite Watlington; and her beloved nephew, Freddie Watlington. She is survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Garnett Cemetery, 25045 NE 1850 Rd, Garnett, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church and left in care of the funeral home.
