Dorothy Stegman

Dorothy Marie (Boan) Stegman, age 85, of Iola, Kansas passed away on March 23, 2025 at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Dorothy was born to Thomas and Anna (Hitchens) Boan on September 3, 1939 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. She attended local schools and graduated from the high school in Bonner Springs. In 1969, Dorothy married Donald Mark Stegman. Together, they made a home in Iola and were blessed with a son, Richard.

For years, Dorothy worked at Iola schools as a baker in the cafeteria. She loved her job, and was very proud to be such an important part of the school district. Dorothy enjoyed family and talking to her closest friends. She liked to relax by sitting outside, simply watching the world pass by. As long as she was in the sunshine, she was happy. Dorothy was also known for her sweet sayings, such as "put it in your pocket for a rainy day," and she was a gentle soul.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and son, Richard Potts.

Dorothy is survived by her granddaughter, Cortney Curran; grandson, Chavis Potts; great-grandson, Andrew Curran; and many friends in the community.

A funeral for Dorothy is planned for Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held the evening prior to the service, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
