Dorris Ellouise Gere-Young

Dorris Ellouise Gere-Young, age 76, of Iola, Kansas, passed away October 27, 2022, at Moran Manor, Moran, Kansas. Dorris was born February 20, 1946, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Lloyd Clements and Wanda (Hamilton) Clements.

Dorris graduated in 1964 from Doniphan High School, Doniphan, Missouri. Dorris married Richard Gere on October 9, 1966, Doniphan, Missouri. Richard passed on November 30, 1998. Dorris later married Lee Scott Young on September 19, 2009, Iola, Kansas.

Dorris enjoyed collecting antiques and shopping at antique shops and flea markets. She liked to take care of others, especially children and the elderly. Dorris was a social person who never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family or friends.

Dorris was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Richard Gere.

Dorris is survived by husband, Scott, of the home; daughter, Angelia (Paul) Coussens, Lee's Summitt, Missouri; son, Ric Gere, Port Charlotte, Florida; grandchildren, Luke (Sierra) Fursman, Lily Fursman, Nathan Fursman, Carly Fursman, Rian Gere, Alex Gere; great-granddaughter, Karsynn Fursman; and sisters, Anita Jones, Carthage, Missouri, Karen (Wayne) Allen, Fairdealing, Missouri.

A memorial service to honor Dorris' life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Inurnment will be at a later time in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.
