Dorthea Jean (Trout) Leigh, 86, of Iola, Kansas, passed away at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at her home, Tara Gardens in Iola. Dorthea was born December 18, 1924, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Walter H. and Barbara A. (Leibold) Trout. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1943. On May 29, 1943, Dorthea married Lawrence Lorraine Leigh. They later divorced. She worked as a waitress at Reynolds Drug Store, Menegay's Restaurant, Daylight Donuts and Pasta Palace. Dorthea enjoyed reading, singing, crocheting, tending her houseplants, playing with her cats and listening to her loving great grandchildren sing songs to her. SURVIVORS: 2 Sons: Gary Leigh & wife, Mary Jane of Independence, MO and Glade A. Leigh & wife, Marilyn of Humboldt, KS 1 Daughter: Cathrine Boskee & husband, David of Round Rock, TX 2 Brothers: Lawrence Trout & wife, Sharon of Universal City, TX and Herb Trout & wife, Mitzi of Roswell, Georgia 6 Grandchildren: Darrel & Michelle Leigh of Raytown, MO, Laurie & David Orr of Greenville, SC, Adam Leigh of Independence, MO, Orion & Cheyenne Leigh both of rural Humboldt, KS and Stacy & Chad Christiansen of Billings, MO 2 Step-Grandchildren: Michael & Sheila Wilson of Garnett, KS and Cynthia Wilson of Wichita, KS 8 Great-Grandchildren: Sidney & Alexandra, Emily,Paul,Noah & Seth, Hunter & Tre' 1 Step-Great Grandson: Seth Nieces, nephews and cousins Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. David Orr will officiate.
