Douglas H. Miller, age 71, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at his home. He was born December 3, 1943, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Sylvin "S.L."and Rena Faye (Goodman) Miller. He graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1961. He served in the United States Army in 1961 through 1964. Doug married Rose Marie Weiss on November 15, 1964 in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with one son, David. He was a police officer for the Garnett Police Department from August 1976 to December 2005, retiring as a Sergeant. Doug was a member of the United Brethren Church of Garnett, the V.F.W., and the Anderson County Historical Society. Doug enjoyed traveling and collecting railroad memorabilia. He especially enjoyed travelling to Statler Brother concerts, and then to see Jimmy Fortune in later years. Doug and Rose Marie quietly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last November. Doug was very proud of David for becoming an Eagle Scout and continuing the family tradition of serving his country in military service. He was also proud of Alex and Griff for what they have accomplished in their young lives. Doug loved and adored little Jaxon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvin and Rena Miller; brothers, Charles Miller, Wallace Miller, Arthur Miller, Robert "Bobby" Miller; sisters, Ina May Hopkins, Patsy Hollon and Betty Bowers. Doug is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Miller, of the home; son, David Miller of LaVernia, Texas; two grandchildren, Alexandria Leigh and fiancé Tyler Harris and Griffin David; one great grandson, Jaxon Weiss Miller; two brothers, Willis Miller and wife Sharon of Garnett, Kansas, Sydney Miller and wife Maxine of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one sister, Frances Cooper of Garnett, Kansas. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday evening at the funeral home.
