E. Dwayne Meadows, 84, of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the Allen County Hospital. Dwayne was born December 5, 1927, at Peru, Kansas, the son of Ernest Ralph and Verna Naomia (Brown) Meadows. He attended school in Peru and graduated from Sedan High School, then took business courses at Independence Community College. He did public accounting for many years as well as managing car washes. On December 31, 1948, Dwayne married Elsie Robison and they lived in southeast Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma where they reared their five children. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and Allen County Country Club. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. On October 1, 1999, he married Betty Grundy Johnson in Sedan where they lived for seven years before moving to Iola. They spent several winters in south Texas where they enjoyed golfing. Golfing was his passion, and he played twelve years after retirement in the Southeast Kansas Senior Men's tournaments. SURVIVORS: Wife: Betty Meadows of the home 2 Sons: Mike Meadows of Columbus, KS, and Kelley Meadows and wife, Ellen of Joplin, MO 3 Daughters: Vickie Brammer, Santa Ana, CA, Rory Meadows of Gold Beach, OR, and Deirdre Oliver and husband, Howard of Gold Beach, OR 1 Step-Son: Robert Johnson of Lake Lotawana, MO 1 Brother: Charles Meadows & wife, Jane of Sedan, KS 2 Sisters: Charlene Chamberlain & husband, Bob of Rogers, AR and Margaret McAfee & husband, Kent of Del City, OK A number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and other relatives He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cary Mae Lesslie.
