Edith I. Correa, age 78, of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away on November 29, 2020, at the Allen County Regional Hospital.
Edith Irene Thompson was born July 16, 1942, at Moran, Kansas. She was the second of five children born to Wayne F. Thompson and Ida Jean (Hastings) Thompson. She grew up in Kincaid, graduating from Kincaid High School with the class of 1960. Following high school Edith married Lloyd Vernon Hammonds, they were blessed with two daughters, Rhonda and Christine. Lloyd passed away tragically on July 17, 1965. Edith then married Nick Y. Correa in 1972, their marriage added a son to Edith's life, N. Quincy Correa. They later divorced. Edith later had a son with, Lloyd Gene Mears, Lefric "Ric" Mears. In her younger years Edith enjoyed riding her motorcycle, albeit, sometimes that was her only mode of transportation. She passed that passion on to her children. Edith's faith in the Lord was a pillar of her life. She loved to share His word with everyone. Edith was blessed with a helping heart, she gave willingly from her heart whenever she saw someone in need. Life tested Edith many times, but her strength allowed her to persevere and then led her to help others. In her free time Edith enjoyed playing the keyboard, reading and attending church functions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter, Christine Hammonds, on November 9, 2015; daughter-in-law, Amber Correa; and one grandson, Antonio Correa.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Cumplido and husband, Jorge of Kincaid; two sons, Quincy Correa and wife, Pam of Port Hadlock, Washington and Lefric Mears and wife, Heather of Munford, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Hunsperger of Moran, Kansas; three brothers, Butch Thompson and wife, Twila of Douglas, Kansas, Brian Thompson and wife, Nina of Pomona, Kansas and Wayman Thompson and wife, Grace of Kincaid, Kansas.
Services for Edith will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 10:30 AM at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas, with Pastor Tina Barnett and Pastor Dale Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at
