Edith Ione Modlin

Edith Ione Modlin, age 85, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away August 15, 2023, at her residence. Edith was born February 4, 1938, in Westphalia, Kansas, to Loren McCullough and Violet (Ewing) McCullough.

Edith married Loren Modlin on July 1, 1954, in Iola, Kansas. Edith was a waitress at L&M Café and later she worked in several area nursing homes as CNA, CMA, and a food supervisor. She owned and operated a daycare for several years.

Edith collected salt and pepper shakers and dolls. She liked to cook, especially making delicious cinnamon rolls, bread, and cookies. Edith was a lady who always stayed busy and enjoyed life by spending time with her family and grandkids.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son, Larry Modlin; and daughter, Cindy Cullison.

Edith is survived by her children, James (Bobbie) Modlin, Charlotte (Mark) Slater, Wanda (Edward) Foster, Randy (Sheri) Modlin; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Zastrow, Corrine Boeken, Shirley Hines, Joyce (John) Kielen; brother, Virgil McCullough; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.
