Edward C. Canada

d. January 9, 2019

Edward Clive Canada, age 74, of Parker, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.   Ed was born on July 6, 1944, near Callao, Missouri, to Harriett (Buchanan) and Clive Canada, and was the youngest of their three children. After graduating from Callao High School in 1962, he headed to Kansas City, Missouri to seek employment. He started out at McCall’s Service Station.  He then moved on to the Kansas City Terminal Railway Service and the Gas Service Company.  Ed was a member of the Missouri National Guard. While still living in Kansas City, he married Sandra (Sandy) Giffin in 1967. After a few years of marriage, Sandy told him she wanted a bigger garden, so Ed bought her a farm outside of Parker, Kansas in 1972, where they still make their home today.  Shortly after moving to the Parker area, Ed obtained employment at KCP&L’s LaCygne Generating Station.  In 2006 Ed retired after 32 years with KCP&L.  He continued to farm until 2018. His joys in life were farming, spending time with family and friends, 4th of July cookouts and fireworks, boating on Stockton Lake, and farming (a lot). Ed was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Parker, Kansas, where he found great joy in serving his Lord and Savior alongside his beloved church family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Eli. Ed is survived by wife, Sandy Canada, of the home; his daughter, Lori Northern and her husband Kelly of Parker, Kansas; his son, Eric Canada of Friendswood, Texas; and his three grandchildren, Payton, Quin, and Hope Northern.  He is also survived by his sister Susie Brown and her husband, Harold of Macon, Missouri and one sister in law, Carrolyn Sargent of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, 440 Baptist Drive, Parker, Kansas 66072.  Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, Kansas 66032.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Parker or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, and may be left in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.feuerbornfuneral.com .
