Eleanor Swanson

Eleanor Alvina Swanson, 91, of Gas, Kansas entered her heavenly home Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Eleanor was born November 29, 1918 in Boone County, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Arhens) Hasstedt. She grew up in the Boone, Iowa area. On September 6, 1936, Eleanor married Leslie H. Swanson. He worked construction so consequently they lived in numerous communities before moving to LaHarpe, Kansas in 1962 and then to Gas in 1971. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1976. She worked several years for Schell Cleaners and also did day care in her home. Eleanor enjoyed baseball, crocheting and yard work. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Iola. SURVIVORS: 3 Daughters: Patricia Prather of Humboldt, KS, Delores Betsworth of Wichita, KS and Ruth Smart of Iola, KS 1 Sister: Louise Browning of Boone, Iowa 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 2 sisters and 3 great grandchildren. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Iola. The Rev. Bruce Kristalyn will officiate BURIAL: Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas MEMORIAL: Grace Lutheran Church Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
