Elizabeth Shaw, age 97, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010, at her home in Iola. Elizabeth was born on January 16, 1913 at Lost Springs, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Kate (Pickett) Drury. She grew up in the Selma area, graduating from Kincaid High School in 1932. She was united in marriage to Wallace Shaw on November 8, 1942 at her parents' home near Selma. Elizabeth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iola and the Welda School Board. She was a 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. She liked to sew, quilt, and tend to her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace Shaw; and daughter Wilma Vermillion. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Melvina Jones and husband Charles of Potwin, Kansas; Shirley Shaw of Iola, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tina Dudley of Great Falls, Montana; Tamera Ostrander and husband Jeremy of Glenwood, Iowa; Travis Vermillion and wife Dawn of Kincaid, Kansas; Craig Jones and wife Julie of Papillion, Nebraska; step grand-daughter Teena Lutz and husband Gerald of Garnett, Kansas; thirteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one niece, LaJune Bodenhamer and husband Glen of Garnett, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Iola, Kansas. Burial following at the Lone Elm Cemetery. Family will be present to greet friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Chapel in Moran, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Iola, Kansas, Kincaid Fair Association, or to the Southeast Kansas Respite Service and may be left in care of the funeral home.
