Elsie L. Stovall, 101, of Iola, Kansas, formerly of Neosho Falls, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Windsor Place Nursing Center in Iola. Elsie was born March 9, 1910, on a farm located between Neosho Falls and LeRoy, Kansas, the daughter of Ira and Minnie (Schaede) Murray. She graduated from LeRoy High School and taught in country schools before marrying Francis C. Stovall on July 14, 1940. They made their home on a farm near Neosho Falls and she worked for the post office in Neosho Falls. Mr. Stovall preceded her in death on March 2, 1972. In 1975, she moved to Iola where she worked in the laundry department for a couple of nursing homes before she retired. Elsie enjoyed cooking and being outdoors. She was a member of Neosho Falls United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School. She attended the First Baptist Church after moving to Iola. SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Norma Riley & husband, Rick of Iola, KS 1 Sister: Mae Marie Lewis of Topeka, KS 3 Grandchildren: Dan Riley & wife, Dody of Lamar, MO, Travis Riley & wife, Nikki of Iola, KS, and Lisa Tice & husband, Cody of Iola, KS 5 Great Grandchildren: Skyler, Danielle, Hayden, Ethan and Caleb with one on the way She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Warren, Robert and Albert Murray and 1 sister, Eva Whitely. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
