Eric L. Guenther

Eric Leon Guenther, age 57, passed away at Allen County Regional Hospital on November 18, 2024.

Eric was born on January 19, 1967 in El Dorado, Kansas to Dennis and Jackie (Stanley) Guenther. He was raised in Humboldt, Kansas, where he attended school and graduated with the Humboldt High School class of 1985. Growing up, Eric was active in sports and Boy Scouts of America. He always enjoyed the annual overnight camping trip with his scout troop.

In 1986, Eric married Cheryl Jacobs in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They were blessed with three children, Amber, Brooke, and Zach. Eric and Cheryl spent a number of years living outside of Hume, Missouri on the Marais Des Cygnes River. After their children were out of school, they made their home in Humboldt.

Eric loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, which he shared the love of with his son and grandchildren. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting with his dad, a tradition that he continued with his son. One of his favorite summer activities was trout fishing at Bennett Spring State Park. Every Mother's Day, he would go out with his children to pick wildflowers for Cheryl. Eric was a Bridge Painter with the Painters' Union, Local No. 9, out of Kansas City, Missouri.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cline and Elnora Stanley, and Luke and Mae Guenther; uncle, Melvin Guenther; and father-in-law, John "Butch" Jacobs.

He is survived by his wife; children, Amber (Jeremy) Eaton of Lawrence, Brooke (Matthew) Bumstead of Humboldt, Zachary (Shawna) Guenther of Nevada, Missouri; parents, Dennis and Jackie Guenther of Humboldt; brother, Micah (Ina) Guenther of Arma; 6 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Kinz, Breckin, Lane, Hayden, Rhett, and Jacob; mother-in-law, Donna Jacobs of Humboldt; 5 nieces; and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service for Eric is planned for Monday, November 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to The Michael J.
