Ethel Fern (Boyd) Wagoner, age 99, Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care Facility in Garnett. She was born on March 30, 1912, near Beatrice, Nebraska, the daughter of Ernest and Alice (Riffey) Boyd. Her family moved near Sawyer, Kansas when she was 4 years old, and she attended school there. As a young girl Ethel was baptized into the Old German Brethren Church. Ethel lived in Indiana for many years, while there she worked as an Aid in the hospital. She particularly enjoyed the times she worked in the nursery. Ethel was united in marriage to Andrew Moses Wagoner on May 3, 1970, at Sawyer, Kansas. This union gave Ethel stepchildren and step grandchildren who she claimed as her own. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Andrew Wagoner on February 23, 1997; three sisters, Hazel Edgecomb, Edith Pollock, and Lucy Bell Boyd; three brothers, Jesse Boyd, Ivan Boyd and Earl Boyd; stepson Melvin Wagoner in 1997; step son-in-law Charles Jamison; and two step great granddaughters. She is survived by two stepdaughters; Rochelle Eichman and husband Larry of Westphalia, Kansas; Donna Jamison of Quinter, Kansas; step daughter-in-law, Betsy Boone and husband, Bob of Casstown, Ohio; twelve step grandchildren; twenty-nine step great grandchildren; and twelve step great great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Margaret Boyd of Pendleton, Indiana; and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Westphalia, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care.
