Evelina L. Burch

Evelina Lenora Burch, age 96, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, Kansas. She was born on August 14, 1920, in Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Fon Walls and Bessie (Hill) Walls. Evelina moved to Iola at the age of one, and attended Iola schools. After living in Wichita for 9 years, she moved to Oregon in 1959. Evelina was united in marriage to Charles E. Burch on February 28, 1960. Evelina completed her nursing education as an LPN in 1961. She lived and worked in Oregon, Washington, California, and Colorado, before returning to Wichita in 1988. In 1990, she moved back to Iola. She was a member of Ward Chapel A.M. E. Church, and the Ebony Eight Red Hat Club. Evelina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Burch in 2007; her daughter, Cherie Evelina Burch; brothers, Alfonzo Walls, Kenneth Walls, and James Walls; sisters, Barbara Ann, Marybelle Lane, Lolita Johnson; She is survived by her sister, Thelma Shannon of Wichita.
