Ezra Davison

d. January 20, 2011

William Ezra Davison, son of John Arthur and Mary Elizabeth (Crist) Davison was born on July 15, 1920 near Virginia, Nebraska, and departed this life at the Richmond Healthcare Center on January 20, 2011, at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 5 days. He lived with his parents in Nebraska until he was 6 years old. In 1926 the family moved near Lawrence, Kansas in Douglas County. In 1931 they made their home in Anderson County, Kansas, where the remainder of his life was spent, with the exception of a few years living in Modesto, California. As a young man, Ezra felt the calling of the Lord and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on October 10, 1944, by Elder William Heck. To this calling he remained faithful throughout his life. Ezra and Thelma Luella Filbrun were married on January 7, 1945. Together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for 65 years. Their desire for children was realized when they adopted a baby son and 3 years later a 2 1/2 year old daughter. He was a talented carpenter and handy man, but Ezra's life was farming. Even after moving to town (and his last years moving into Alzheimer's) his heart was still among the fields. Left to greatly miss him is his son, Calvin Ezra Davison, his daughter, Janell Irene and Gerald Sutton, two sisters-in-law, Mildred Davison and Gladys Filbrun, all of Garnett; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and friends. Ezra was preceded in death by his father and mother; his wife Thelma Davison; one sister Vinna and Frank Flory; brothers Marvin Davison, Alpha and Mary Davison; brother-in-law Alva Filbrun and sister-in-law Martha and Floyd Beckner. The words of his favorite hymn "Redeeming love has been my theme. And shall be till I die", is now a reality. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Old German Baptist Church, Westphalia, Kansas. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00-3:00 PM, Sunday afternoon at the funeral home in Garnett. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.feuerrbornfuneral.com
