Fayma I. Vaughn, 86, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at her home. Fayma was born January 20, 1923, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Edna Creo (Hadlock) Garner. She lived in Mt. Vernon and was married to Henry Yancey who preceded her in death. She later married Tom C. Cornell and he also preceded her in death. She married Paul J. Vaughn and they made their home in Iola. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1973. Over the years Fayma worked as a cook in several different restaurants. SURVIVORS: 2 Sons: Donnie Yancey & wife, Nancy of Iola, KS, and Dennis Vaughn & wife, Suzanne of Fayetteville, Arkansas 2 Daughters: Norma Yancey & companion, Dewey Gambill of Iola, KS and Mary Ann Garton & husband, Glen of Kansas City, MO 1 Step-Son: Russell Vaughn & wife, Vicki of Iola, KS 2 Step-Daughters: Betty Bowers of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Billie Jo Verdot & husband, Gerald of St. Louis, MO 1 Brother: Delmar Garner of Wheatland, OK 1 Half-Brother: Robert Cantrell of Texas 24 Grandchildren A number of great and great-great grandchildren She was preceded in death by a son, Charles L. Cornell, stepdaughter, Phyllis J. Vaughn, a brother, and three sisters, Vonda, Leona and Jean. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, KS FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. The Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, KS MEMORIAL: Allen County Hospice Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
