Florine Hermreck

Florine Hermreck, age 86, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, at her home. She was born on September 24, 1926, at Greeley, Kansas, the daughter of William and Essie (Raitinger) Lickteig. She grew up in the area, graduating from Greeley High School with the Class of 1945. Florine was united in marriage to Eugene H. Hermreck on February 1, 1949, at Greeley, Kansas. This union was blessed with seven children. She worked for a short time at the sewing factory in Garnett before she was married. After marriage, she raised her seven children on the family farm. In later years, she loved to go on trips on the bus tour. When she went grocery shopping, she never went in without a handful of coupons. Florine was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley; St. John's Altar Society; and VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene H. Hermreck on July 30, 2002; brothers, Paul Lickteig and Robert Lickteig. Florine is survived by four sons, Ronald Hermreck and wife Donna of Garnett, Kansas; Timothy Hermreck, Edward Hermreck, and Alvin Hermreck, all of Greeley, Kansas; three daughters, Pauline Ekpo of Lawrence, Kansas; Louise Smith and husband Kenneth of Ottawa, Kansas; and Cynthia Hermreck of Lawrence, Kansas; two brothers, Walter B. Lickteig and wife Dorothy of Greeley, Kansas, Father Anthony Lickteig of Paola, Kansas; sisters, Helen Miller and Harold of Garnett, Kansas; Rita Peterson and husband Carroll of Greeley, Kansas; Loretta Lickteig of Paola, Kansas; Eva Bastian and husband Ron of Wilcox, Arizona; and Wilma Peine and husband Joe of Greeley, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren, with one on the way. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. John's Cemetery in Greeley, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
